Arlo Wynwood invites guests to celebrate Earth Day with Art, Corals & Oceanography, an immersive evening where contemporary art, ocean science, and community come together. Centered around the unveiling of two original works by Miami-based artist Gustavo Oviedo, the event explores the ocean as both a source of inspiration and a fragile ecosystem impacted by human activity.
The evening unfolds through a series of engaging talks, beginning with Oviedo sharing insight into his artistic practice and the underwater worlds that inspire his work. Devon Ledbetter of Rescue a Reef highlights the power of citizen science and community involvement in coral conservation, followed by Andrei Steyn of Students for Coral Preservation, who brings a youth-driven perspective on climate advocacy. Dr. Lisa Beal, Professor of Oceanography at the University of Miami, rounds out the program with scientific context on ocean systems and global climate impact.
Guests will have the opportunity to explore the artwork, connect with speakers, and mingle between sessions, creating a dynamic and thought-provoking experience that encourages awareness, conversation, and connection. Seating is limited and RSVP is encouraged via Eventbrite.
