Join us in celebrating the fourth year of the PAMM Fund for African American Art. Enjoy performances by Olujimi Dance Theater and Aja Monet, announcement of new acquisitions and more.

The evening will showcase “Kahina: A Tangled Root,” a performance by Olujimi Dance Theater. The piece is inspired by North African queen, warrior, and religious leader, Dihya Kahina, who lived during the seventh century. The work generates a conscious awareness and expanded knowledge of self and collective identity of the Black Female Body. The performance will “un-earth’ significant historical, economical, philosophical, and cultural contributions of the Black Female Body utilizing ancestral memory, story, song, text, collective memory, and moving images with an exploration of landscape, environment, and the metaphysical body. This original work is a story of displacement, migration, reciprocity, sustainability, and exile to freedom.

In addition, guests will enjoy poetry by Aja Monet, the youngest individual to win the legendary Nuyorican Poet’s Café Grand Slam title.

The Fourth Annual Reception for the PAMM Fund for African American Art presented by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation with additional support from Kroma. Support from d’Ussé Cognac is also gratefully acknowledged.
