The personal story of Asger Jorn, the celebrated Danish painter and founder of the COBRA movement who struggled to achieve recognition in his native country throughout his life. He sacrificed everything for his art – including his wives and his children. His story is the myth of the penniless artist who must endure so much for his art and who only achieves world fame late in life. Asger Jorn’s story is told by the people who knew him, including his son who never learned to call him father and the painter Bodil Kaalund whose father was convinced that “Asger is destined for greatness”. By Anna von Lowzow, Lene Borch Hansen, 60 minutes.
