National Philanthropy Day®: Who’s Your Philanthropic Idol?

Information courtesy AFP

Want to raise awareness of your cause, all of philanthropy and maybe even a little money for your organization? Then participate in AFP’s Who is Your Philanthropic Idol? contest in celebration of National Philanthropy Day®.

We’re asking everyone to submit short (one-minute) videos of themselves to our NPD website (npdlove.com), talking about their philanthropic idol and how their idol inspires them to get involved.

The top five most popular videos (as determined by public vote) earn the submitters $500 each for their favorite charity.

Submissions are already underway, and the deadline is October 7. Then on October 10, we will display all of the videos we’ve received and open up the voting. On National Philanthropy Day®, we’ll announce the top five videos that received the most votes!

It’s easy to get involved:
Submit a video of yourself
Ask your donors, volunteers and staff to submit videos of themselves
Talk about NPD on Facebook: facebook.com/nationalphilanthropyday
Tweet using #npdidol (about your videos) and #npdlove (for National Philanthropy Day in general).
You can even use the contest to help promote your own organization as well, creating a series of videos from supporters about what inspires them to give.

Check out the NPD website today (npdlove.com)—you’ll also see our 16 finalists for AFP’s National Philanthropy Day® awards. We’ll soon be announcing our final honorees who will be recognized at our November 15 international awards event in Washington, D.C.

We look forward to seeing your videos soon—remember, the deadline for submission is October 7! AFP will update everyone when the public voting begins.
