Burger Beast’s Third Annual Burgie Awards

Magic City Casino, Miami’s first casino to feature Las Vegas style slot machines, will be the home of the third annual Burgie Awards and Wheelin’ Dealin’ Street Food Festival on Saturday, November 19 from 5pm to 10pm. The event organized by Burger Beast will feature over 50 food trucks, some coming from as far as Tampa, to serve their varied specialties. Over 10 restaurants from across South Florida will compete for the title of “Best Burger 2011,” and 10 food trucks will compete for the “Best Food Truck Burger 2011” title. Approximately 20 local food purveyors will also be recognized during the “People’s Choice” Awards segment.

Admission to the Burgie Awards and food festival is free. Parking is also free, with valet parking available.

“We are excited to host the third annual Burgie Awards and encourage our guests to come hungry, as they will have the opportunity to sample food from South Florida’s most popular food trucks and restaurants,” said Scott Savin, Chief Operating Officer of Magic City Casino. “Plus, we will offer a full evening of entertainment, with the Chirino Sisters performing at the Secada’s Lounge.”

The “People’s Choice” Awards were decided by an online vote hosted on www.burgerbeast.com through the first week of November. The top prizes, “Best Burger 2011” and “Best Food Truck Burger 2011,” will be determined by a live panel of local food experts including Laine Doss, writer of the Miami New Times’ Short Order blog, and local food bloggers representing 954 Burger Boi, Burger Queen, The Chowfather, Copperpot’s, Blind Tastes and The Burger Overload.

The documentary “Hamburger America” will be shown on a large screen with a specially filmed introduction for the 2011 Burgie Awards by Travel Channel’s, George Motz. Adding to the festivities, Magic City Casino will offer guests the chance to participate in free games, with prizes that include Magic City Casino free play, merchandise, event tickets and much more.

A special post Burgie Awards musical performance will be presented by the Chirino Sisters at Secada’s Lounge starting at 9:30pm, with a second performance at 11pm.
