The OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Spring Edition presents Erupjca (US/UK, 2025),a drama, its Ladies’ Spotlight Film, at 7:45 p.m., on May 1, at Paradigm Cinemas: Gateway Fort Lauderdale. An afterparty will follow the screening.
In her first starring role, pop icon Charli XCX stars as Bethany, a woman who abruptly derails a romantic vacation in Poland after suspecting her devoted boyfriend, Rob, is about to propose. Breaking from the carefully planned itinerary, Bethany reconnects with an old friend, Nel, and the two spark a quiet yet smoldering chemistry rooted in shared history, poetry, and unspoken desire. As Rob wanders Warsaw searching for answers, the trio confronts the fragile line between destiny and chance. An improvisational postcard romance, Erupcja uses volcanic imagery to mirror its characters’ repressed longings and emotional eruptions.
The film is in English and Polish and runs 71 minutes. It is preceded by two short films April (Spain, 2026) 7 mins. and How’s Archie (Canada, 2026) 17 mins.
This year’s OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Spring Edition runs through May 3 with select films available for OUTshine At-Home viewing from May 4 – 10.
