MIAMI, Fla. (July 8, 2020) – LogistiCare, the nation’s largest non-emergency medical transportation broker, is once again taking the steps to raise awareness about kidney disease. The Miami Lakes based LogistiCare team will join area residents and longtime event-goers to support the National Kidney Foundation’s (NKF) First Virtual Miami Kidney Walk scheduled for Sunday, July 26, at 9 a.m.

“We are excited about our first Virtual Miami Kidney Walk. This is a great way to connect safely and unite for one cause: to celebrate life and each other,” said Zoe Plasencia, Miami walk director, National Kidney Foundation. “Our kidney patients need us now more than ever. Our NKF programs are all running strong, thanks to the continued support from our South Florida community.”

Participants and volunteers represent every aspect of kidney disease, creating a real sense of hope and encouragement, ultimately providing long-term support for Florida kidney patients and their families. With the annual walk going virtual this year, participants have more flexibility to safely complete the walk, whether they choose to take a walk around their own neighborhood or explore a local park on the day of the walk. Organizers encourage participants to take a selfie or video and share it on social media with the hashtag #KidneyWalkVirtual.

Participants are also encouraged to personalize their kidney walk page by documenting their kidney disease journey or sharing with the organization and community the reasons why they walk. Participants will be able to ask their personal networks to support the cause before the day of the walk.
