AIDS has killed more than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007, and an estimated 33.2 million people worldwide live with HIV as of 2007, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS epidemic claimed an estimated 2 million lives in 2007, of which about 270,000 were children. Family Aids Coalition offers assistance to families affected by HIV/AIDS through education, testing and counseling. FAC works in collaborative partnerships with local and national organizations and governments to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights for women, families, children and those living with HIV/ AIDS in Miami Dade County. All FAC services are provided at no cost to the client.

“Through fundraisers such as this one hosted by Rodez Art, FAC is able to continue helping those in need” says Dr. Maria Isabel Betancourt, Founder and Program Director. Rodez Art represents the works of George Rodez and also serves as his art studio. The gallery presents contemporary works of art by local, national and international emerging and mid-careers artists alike through solo as well as group exhibitions. George Rodez is known for his philanthropic involvement in the community via his art contributions. The gallery is his conduit to local and national non-for profit organizations and their events. Rodez states, “In my continued strive to give back to my community, this month, which is AIDS Awareness Month, I am proud to support FAC. In their mission to provide an invaluable service to our community, their needs are great and I am honored to provide my gallery for a fundraising cocktail and donate a percentage of all sales proceeds to the cause.”

Family AIDS Coalition was founded in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit AIDS service corporation dedicated to providing a continuum of educational, supportive and case management services that address the needs of our clients.
