The larger works of Richard Strauss, from tone poems to operas, are well known and loved, but his chamber works are just as magnificent yet much more obscure. His Sonatina No. 1, “From the Workshop of an Invalid,” was written during Strauss’ bout of the flu. Even when sick, Strauss wrote incredible music!
