Session will introduce participants to the nuances of multicultural marketing and how to be effective in reaching communities of color in a manner that is welcomed. Participants will also be introduced to:

The 7 ways to “touch” or reach a consumer through advertising and public relations.Understanding the difference between effective mainstream and grassroots media activities and cost differentials.Understanding the characteristics of grassroots media outlets and/or collaborations to support their marketing efforts.Understanding how to create messaging in advertising and/or public relations campaigns that resonate with communities of color.

Part II 1:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.
“We Are Our World! Multicultural Fundraising For The Arts”

Session will introduce participants to the nuances of raising money within multicultural communities to support the arts. Participants will also be introduced to:

Creative ways to “invite” multicultural communities to support your organization in a fundraising and/or Board/volunteer capacity.Multicultural organizations that are interested in the arts.Understanding ways to create strategic multicultural collaborations to support your development efforts.Understanding the distinctions of financial giving/behaviors for multicultural communities.

Lunchtime Media Panel and Trade Show

There will be a media trade show during the lunch hour so you can meet your advertising representatives and receive current advertising rates.

Tyrha M. Lindsey
Tyrha M. Lindsey has 14 years’ experience in public relations and brings a highly diverse communications background that covers multicultural and mainstream public relations, promotion, entertainment and targeted marketing disciplines. Prior to joining UniWorld Group, Inc., Lindsey ran her family’s retail and communications agency, L.A.I. Communications. specializing in promoting women’s empowerment and health issues, she created strategic public relations solutions for a number of non-for-profit and corporate institutions including, The Kroger Company, The Institute for Healthcare Disparities at Nassau University Medical Center and ADP, Inc.

Lindsey has worked closely with the National Speaking of Women’s Health Foundation and developed “Universal Sisters,” a national multicultural diabetes awareness initiative. She has raised millions of dollars for the National Speaking of Women’s Health Foundation and worked as the Director of Development for LifeCenter Organ Donor Network. She was the former PR Director for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and has consulted in a marketing and fundraising capacity for the Institute for Healthcare Disparities at Nassau University Medical Center, American Diabetes Association, Nepperhan Community Center, Iris House, Hebni Nutrition Consultants and Highmark Blue Cross*Blue Shield. Following an extensive performing career in dance, music and theater, Lindsey began her career in Hollywood working for the likes of Quincy Jones * David Salzman Entertainment, NBC, Creative Artists Agency and Edmonds Entertainment developing television and film properties. She received her Bachelor of Science in Radio/TV/Film from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a concentration in Marketing from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California.
