Michelin Mom Joins Rising Star Son For Once in a Lifetime Meal
It’s not often Miami welcomes Food Royalty, those famous chef families that pass talent down from generation to generation. This month, that will change. Next week, local star Chef Andrea Menichetti will reunite with his Michelin-rated Mama, Chef Valeria Piccini at his restaurant Vino e Olio where the Mother-Son duo prepare a special menu for guests on Saturday, January 22, 2011. Allowing diners a one-of-a-kind gastronomic experience out of this world, the multi-course meal will showcase a multi-generational take on Tuscan cuisine.

Growing up Valeria Piccini honed a passion for cooking in her family kitchen, watching her mother and grandmother relish in preparing traditional cuisine. In 1987, Valeria opened Da Caino with childhood friend and future husband, Maurizio Menichetti where Maurizio’s parents’ restaurant once was. It was at Da Caino that Andrea learned his mother’s art of gourmet simplicity, simple dishes that boast creativity, flavor and balance. “My mother always taught me to remember my past and to draw inspiration from it” explained Andrea, “so I draw my inspiration from her.”

Chef Andrea’s done just that with his newest venture, Vino e Olio, the three month old eatery in the heart of Miami’s Design District. Churning out simple dishes full of flavor, Andrea takes care to use the freshest ingredients to maintain the dishes’ integrity and authenticity.

On Saturday, January 22, 2011 Valeria will join Andrea in the kitchen to offer Miami an unforgettable four-course meal for $65.00. The dinner will be a symphony of rustic flavors beginning with a steak tartare with burrata followed by braised beef cheek ravioli. A crispy suckling pig will round out the meal before finishing on a high note with the ultimate tiramisu served with homemade coffee gelato.

The four-course meal will be available one night only, Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 5p.m. – 11p.m., reservations are strongly recommended. Vino e Olio is located at 139 NE 39th Street in Miami’s Design District and is open seven days a week from 5:00pm – 2:00am.
