Afro-Latina visual artist, painter and author Reyna Noriega, who has dedicated her life’s work to celebrating women of color, has partnered with Nautilus Sonesta Miami Beach and nAscent Art New York to debut her first-ever full-scope multimedia and multidimensional artwork installation. Featuring over 12 never-before-seen pieces, the immersive installation explores Noriega’s vibrant heritage and identity as a female Cuban-American Miami native as it intersects with her culture and journey as an artist.

Grand Opening Exhibit: Acclaimed Hungarian sculptor, Agnes Nagy, makes her Miami debut during Miami Art Week with exclusive showings at various satellite events throughout Miami. Platform by Sogol Décor creative space will feature a curated collection of Nagy’s large animal sculptures beginning Thursday, December 2.

Agnes Nagy is a large-scale, acclaimed sculptor from Budapest, Hungary. While a skilled student and proven artist across various mediums, animal sculptures are her passion. Her work visualizes and empathizes with the souls of her animal subjects, exemplifying the intense bonds held between human and beast. Her background in a range of art forms including pottery, ceramics and leather puts a unique, personal stamp on her work that stands out from contemporaries.

Her exhibit is presented in partnership with South Florida SPCA and the Hungarian Consulate and a portion of the proceeds from each piece sold will benefit the South Florida SPCA, a Miami-Dade nonprofit that rescues and rehabilitates horses and livestock.

MAPP (Mentorship, Advocacy, Purpose and the Power of women) is the non-
profit organization dedicated to empowering women in the culinary and
hospitality industry. On Tuesday, April 2 the organization will return to Miami for
the red carpet premiere of filmmaker Joanna James’ exploration and celebration
of women in the culinary industry in the award-winning film, A Fine Line. Taking
place at Miami Beach’s Regal Cinema, the event will be part of a day-long series
of events focused on creating a culture of self-worth and respect for women in or
looking to build a life in the restaurant industry.

The film premiere itself will take place at 7:30PM, followed by an all-star panel
discussion featuring local and national female culinary stars including Dominique
Crenn, who stars in the film and is the only three Michelin star female chef in the
U.S. Joining her will be chefs Eileen Andrade, Lorena Garcia, Karla Hoyos,
Dayanny De La Cruz, Suzanne Baer and Karina Rivera. Tickets for the film and
panel are $30 per person.

For those looking to expand their opportunity to learn and further engage with
MAPP, there will be a mini-conference earlier that day, starting at 3:30PM at
Santorini by Georgios. Industry leaders will delve into the theme of “Creating a

the non-profit born from it MAPP, hosting its annual conference here,” said
James. This time women will get to see themselves and our universal stories on
the big screen to ask ourselves how we can shape a future where respect,
equality and empowerment thrive.”

Join Oolite Arts for the opening of two spectacular fall exhibits: “Rosie’s Fare” by Germane Barnes pays tribute to the artist’s grandmother and celebrates black traditions and contributions to American cuisine that are often removed or ignored. While “Miami is Not the Caribbean. Yet It Feels Like It,” a group exhibition curated by Danny Baez, gets artists of Caribbean heritage to think about their own personal relationships to Miami and whether they view it as a Caribbean city. Both exhibitions will be on display October 20 -December 11 and during Art Basel, at 924 and 928 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL 33139. Join us under November’s Full Beaver Moon. This month’s moon is also known as the Frost Moon, as beavers build their winter dams by the light of the moon. In order to feel warm, safe and secure, beings must illuminate the things that are in darkness.

This month’s Full Moon will see a lunar eclipse, when the Earth moves between the sun and moon. This happens every six months, which gives us the perfect opportunity to set our intentions for the next six-months, as well as reflect on the previous.

The Beaver’s Moon comes to us in the sign of Taurus. Taurus, an Earth sign, has the ability to see things from a grounded, practical and realistic perspective.

Attendees can determine where they are at with their goals, what they want to gather more of, and what they are ready to let go of to prepare for the new moon cycle. Tune in using sound off noise cancelling headphones, focusing on the experience occurring solely in the body, powered by meaningful beats & sounds. To close the experience guests are invited to connect with one another while sipping on curated full moon elixirs.

The FEEL FREE BE YOURSELF Art Basel event will consist of a 30-minute sustainable panel led by local Miami influencer and lifestyle creative, @chasingcarpediem, and the opportunity to swap clothes with Fika Creative Group’s Style Swap Series. Each guest is allowed to bring up to 3 articles of new or lightly loved clothing items/accessories to the event. They then will have the opportunity to swap their items with the other attendees. What better way to express your artistic self during Art Basel than to swap secondhand items and give your clothes new life!
ALL leftover clothing pieces from the swap will be donated to the Lotus House Women’s Shelter. In addition, a percentage of ticket sale proceeds will go towards funding a scholarship for all Latinx women who are applying for college or a grant for a small business startup!
