Join the Orianne and Phil Collins’ Little Dreams Foundation, in partnership with world-renown painter, Romero Britto, to select Miami’s next big artists.

Students, ages 6-17, will be showcasing an original painting, drawing, photograph or sculpture. One dreamer will be selected in each category to receive mentorship from Romero Britto. Audience members can participate in the voting process and help select the first class of Little Dreams artists. The Orianne and Phil Collins’ Little Dreams Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps disadvantaged children with a passion for and talent in music, art or sports to pursue their dreams. Celebrate National Public Lands Day with Artists in Residence in Everglades (AIRIE) at Everglades National Park on Saturday, September 28, 2019, 1-3pm. Enjoy free admission to the AIRIE Nest Gallery to view the exhibition Fragile, a multi-media exhibition exposing and examining the delicate fragility of the Everglades ecosystem, as well as special free entrance to the park itself. Comprised of works by 11 multidisciplinary artists who have participated in the AIRIE residency, living and working for an entire month in Everglades National Park, Fragile unearths new perspectives on the intricate and complex systems in which the vastness of the River of Grass operates. Featured in the exhibition are Israeli artists/collaborators Keren Anavy and Tal Frank (AIRIE Fellows 2018), Miami-based visual artists Franky Cruz (2015) and Naomi Fisher (2013), Israeli and Australian collaborators Itamar Freed and Courtney Scheu (2019), Florida-based photographer Karen Glaser (2009), Miami-based sculptor Brookhart Jonquil (2016), Miami-based performance artist Ana Mendez (2013), Savannah based fiber artist Sara Beth Rabinowitz (2014) and British artist Rebecca Reeve (2012). The Cuban American Bar Association will host its 15th annual “Art in the Tropics: Uncorked” event Saturday, September 28. This year the gathering is sponsored by Spiritus Law and moves to The Jewel Box at the National YoungArts Foundation. Leading attorneys, judges, government officials, and business and civic leaders will be on hand for the event, the second largest of CABA’s annual fundraisers. Proceeds go towards CABA’s Pro Bono Project, which provides free legal services to the indigent community in Miami-Dade County. Culture Shock Miami Presents is proud to announce that it will kick-off its 2019-2020 season with a special performance by internationally renowned spoken word artist, poet and author, Shane Koyczan at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC).

Tickets for teens and young adults (ages 13-22) are $5 through Culture Shock Miami, the Department of Cultural Affairs’ young audience development program, which offers tickets to performances, museums and cultural attractions around Miami-Dade County.

The EDGE Charitable Foundation will host their 3rd Annual Queen Bees Conference to unite women who love their communities and believe in the power of service. This year’s conference will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Ballroom.

The Queen Bees are an international women’s empowerment and wellness movement that unites women through camaraderie, networking, inspiration, education, wellness activities, and constant civic innovation. Queen Bees participate in monthly events that equip and enrich them with life and business skills. Each event amplifies their philanthropic efforts, with a percentage of the proceeds donated back to the EDGE Charitable Foundation, an organization that provides educational and humanitarian support to children who are victimized and/or disadvantaged. For every $125 raised, 5 children are directly impacted by the support they receive through The EDGE Charitable Foundation.

The theme for this year’s Queen Bees Conference is “Women Owning Wonderful” (WOW). The goal is to empower attendees with practical tools which will help them find their purpose, serve their communities and connect to other influential women in South Florida. During the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to hear various speakers on topics such as leadership, work/life balance, empowering women, breast health and preventative medicine. There will be two breaks during the morning portion of the event featuring a yoga and meditation session by Queen Bee Member Traci Cole as well as samba dancing led by Queen Bee Member Kristal Wise. The Queen Bees Experience is meant to unite over 200 members in a movement which is currently expanding across the country to additional states like New York and Tennessee.
