The Black Archives Miami will share tips and tricks on starting your family archive, completing research at the Archives and building a strong repository to pass on for generations. Black Archives archivist, Jocelyn Hurtado, will lead a workshop on how to use the Archives and other databases to conduct genealogical and historical research. Join MOCA for a short presentation on the collections housed at the Black Archives and how to access them for your own archival interests. Bring your questions and family information (names, dates of birth, place of birth, etc.) to learn how to begin to research and archive your family history.

DRINKS. MUSIC. This free, three-day festival, in partnership with SWARM and the Wynwood BID, will offer an experience unlike any other in collaboration with some of Wynwood’s top local businesses.

Wynwood Life will be incorporating daily live art entertainment by local artists on it’s very own Art Stage, including life sized spray cans that will be painted LIVE. Supercar Rooms Miami will also be building out their very own extravagant yet chill activation space, displaying Elo’s exquisite cars, with customizations second to none.

South Florida’s very best, Wynwood-based chefs will be showcased at The Kitchen Lab With notable participants including Victor Santos of Three Restaurant alongside bar master Darwish Iregui of No. 3 Social in back-to-back segments on Saturday followed by Chef Oscar Del Rivero of Wynwood’s newest Mexican restaurant Bakan. Guests will be able to sip and savor on top-of-the-line local breweries such as Veza Sur, J Wakefield, Concrete Beach Brewery, and more soon to be announced.

To experience the essence of Wynwood’s fashion scene there will be daily fashion shows featuring styles from the local, beautiful Wynwood businesses as well as the return of the Style Lounge by Bloomingdale’s. You will also be able to enjoy a shopping experience curated by the Thrifter Market with over 80+ artisan vendors who will be displaying creative and unique products.

Taking place at thedeck, some of Wynwood’s most popular lounges and bars will be hosting “music takeovers” featuring their resident DJs at the Festival. The takeover will include DJ’s from Veza Sur, The Dirty Rabbit, SHOTS, Barter, and more to be announced.

Child Rescue Coalition (CRC), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue children from sexual abuse by building technology for law enforcement to track, arrest, and prosecute child predators, is seeking volunteers of all ages to assist in its third annual Blankets and Bear Hugs initiative on Saturday, January 26, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at its headquarters located at 4530 Conference Way South in Boca Raton.

The volunteers will help assemble teddy bear care packages to present to local law enforcement for distribution to rescued children. Participants will be treated to a pizza lunch. A $10 per person and $20 per family donation is suggested.

CRC’s Child Protection System, used free of charge by more than 11,000 law enforcement officials in 50 states and 90 countries, has been instrumental in helping to put an end to child sexual abuse. Child Rescue Coalition has assisted in the arrest of nearly 11,000 child predators and the rescues of over 2,500 abused children in the last five years.

Kids and families are invited to Tri-Rail’s “Rail Fun Day.” This FREE, fun-filled event for the entire family will feature arts and crafts, interactive games and activities, face painting, live entertainment, costume characters, food trucks and more.

As part of the festivities, young stars will show off their singing talents as they compete in “South Florida’s Kids Got Talent.” The first-place winner will receive $500, a one-year contract inclusive of a photo shoot with composite cards courtesy of Posche Models & Talent and professional studio and music video recording sessions with MikeSoperMusic and Newborn Studios.

Event goers are encouraged to ride the train to the event with round-trip fares just $5 and free for kids 12 and under on this day only. Plus, the first 100 riders to visit the Tri-Rail booth and present a valid Tri-Rail ticket dated January 26, 2019 will receive a free gift!
