More about Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.:

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. serves as President of Waterkeeper Alliance, as well as Founder, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Legal Counsel for Children’s Health Defense, and of counsel to Morgan & Morgan, a nationwide personal injury practice.

Mr. Kennedy is an esteemed author, with a long list of published books including the New York Times’ bestseller, “Crimes Against Nature.” Mr. Kennedy was named one of Time magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet” for his success helping Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River. His reputation as a resolute defender of the environment and children’s health stems from a litany of successful legal actions. He received recognition for his role in the landmark victory against Monsanto last year, as well as in the DuPont Case that inspired the movie “Dark Waters” (2019).

Camp Description

We’re excited to launch a robust online version of our signature summer cooking camps using live, interactive zoom lessons. Designed to provide children ages 8 to 15 the opportunity to gather together from the comforts of home as we have fun together in the Kitchen.

Limited-size live classes are full of excitement and connection, featuring two recipes each day. We’ll master new kitchen skills from reading recipes and measuring wet/dry ingredients to knife skills as we work our way towards Kitchen independence. Get ready for some kitchen fun – this will be the highlight of your week!

Winter Mystery Basket
Calling all chefs! Cooking shows have nothing on Taste Buds Kitchen’s tasty cooking extravaganzas. Join us as we cook our way through mystery baskets and surprise ingredients to prepare both savory and sweet treats while staying warm and cozy in your Kitchen. Who wouldn’t love to bake some delightful Cheese Twists to Pizza Cupcakes and Apple Spiced Cupcakes. Add your own spin on our classic recipes as you create something truly amazing. Let’s get cooking!

All recipes are vegetarian. If your family has food allergies, many recipes can be easily adjusted in your home to fit gluten-free, dairy-free or egg-free needs.

Registration is by the week.

What’s Included:

Live 2 hour camp experience Monday to Friday
Shopping list and recipes emailed prior
Ingredient Kit add-on available
Parents “How To” video with five tips on how to make our online experience as easy as possible for parents
How This Works

Live Online Class:
We’ll be sharing the same amazing culinary entertainment you’d get if you were in our Kitchen, except you can be in your jammies (no judgement here).

Participation:
Participation is for children with an adult present to chaperone and assist as needed. Siblings are welcome to cook together with sibling registration. Our goal is for the kids to do as much of the cooking as they can. Depending on the day we will be using knives, peelers, zesters/graters and the oven throughout our series so based on your child’s age and kitchen comfort, you will be their sous-chef as needed. Otherwise, we want parents to sit back and enjoy!

Shopping List & Ingredients
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email that includes a shopping list for the week along with the recipes so that you can purchase what you need to actively participate. Most ingredients are pantry staples and/or readily available in most grocery stores. OR, let us do the shopping and prep for you by adding on our weekly Ingredient Kit! Ingredient Kits include all ingredients (less milk) to make a family-sized portion of each recipe (i.e. 6 cupcakes). Ingredient Kits are available for those who register before 5pm on the Thursday before the camp week ahead.

Pick-Up or Delivery
Your Ingredient Kit if selected, will be available for pick-up from our Kitchen on the Sunday before your camp from 3-6pm. Delivery is also available for an additional fee.

Accessing the Class:
You will need to download the free Zoom app onto your desktop, tablet or phone before the class. You will receive a separate email that includes a Zoom link to our online class.

Holiday Cookies Galore
Come enjoy everyone’s favorite sweet holiday escape in this tasty camp where we’ll put your culinary creativity to the test. We’ll learn the techniques to making melt-in-your-mouth cookies and other holiday treats, both savory and sweet. From the classic Snickerdoodle, to Gingerbread Men and Sugar Cookies with Royal Icing; it’s up to you to add your own spin on our classic recipes to create something truly amazing. With holiday tunes and warm cookie smells, we’ll be merry elves getting ready for the holidays as each recipe becomes a masterpiece in the making!

All recipes are vegetarian. If your family has food allergies, many recipes can be easily adjusted in your home to fit gluten-free, dairy-free or egg-free needs.

All camp times are in Eastern Standard.

We recommend joining from a laptop to see better but tablets work just fine as well. Please have all of your ingredients and equipment ready and waiting and your recipes out.

Spread the Word:
Please help us to spread the word to your friends and family ($5 referral reward for each friend or family signup using your link). We’d love to have them cook along with us! Proceeds from online classes will go towards offsetting fixed overhead costs during this difficult time due to COVID-19. #supportsmallbusiness #TBKatHome

Kids can invite their favorite stuffed animals, GI Joes, dolls, and toys to join them on a blanket, or have their BFF connect at the same time!

Our 30-minute bilingual Picnic de Libros ¡en casa! will feature story time, mime and circus performances, children’s theatre, music, percussion and arts and crafts demos, and will be live-streamed. Gather your loved ones at home and join us on Facebook Live on Saturday, December 12th at 11 a.m.

Little Havana Social Club ¡en casa! continues in November bringing home the sounds and spirit of the fiesta de barrio with a contemporary Miami touch. Rooted in tradition but also electric and cosmopolitan, this monthly concert series features established artists such as Jahfe, Leslie Cartaya, and Cortadito, to name a few.

Our next concerts on November 19, and December 17, will showcase a variety of artists such as reggae powerhouse Jahfe, singer/songwriter Leslie Cartaya and her modern take on classic Cuban songs with elements of jazz and funk; rapper/spoken poetry artist Lyrical G, the first student-turned-professional mentor at the Guitars Over Guns program; the traditional Cuban music of the early 20th century of Cortadito; a contemporary Flamenco piece by Flamenco Dance; and the powerful vocals of Yoli Mayor, known as the “Cuban Adele” of our Magic City.
The performances will be filmed and edited by audiovisual director and producer Juan Enis who has worked with top Spanish and Latin American Artists including Alejandro Sanz, Miguel Bose, David Bisbal, Enrique Bunbury, and La Oreja de Van Gogh, as well as has directed documentaries for Spanish Television(TVE) and ARTE, the European Television Channel (French and German). Nicaraguan-born and Miami- raised artist Luis Valle, aka El Chan Guri, whose easily recognizable style blends influences from indigenous cultures, and shamanism, will contribute to the visual vocabulary of the series. An internationally recognized artist, his work can be seen throughout South Florida as he has created commissioned murals, and paintings for public art projects, corporate clients, and neighborhood initiatives.

Conversations at MOCA: Kelly Breez + Autumn Casey 10/22/20

Conversations at MOCA: Kelly Breez + Autumn Casey
Thursday, 10/22/2020-, 07:00 pm-
Website
Cost: Free

The Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) is pleased to feature two South Florida artists – Autumn Casey and Kelly Breez – as part of its free, virtual “Conversations at MOCA” series on Oct. 22. The artists will be discussing stories their past, current and future work with MOCA North Miami’s Exhibitions and Project Manager Kevin Arrow.

The speakers include:

Kelly Breez is a multidisciplinary artist whose work chronicles the perfectly unholy attitude and landscape of South Florida, where the characters she grew up with left the decorum and prohibitions of elitist culture in the dust. She works in – and combines – illustration, sculpture, tufting, painting, and installation. She is currently in her second year as an Ambassador for the Vans Custom Culture program, and she recently completed a five-week residency at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass, Colorado. Her work has been shown during Miami Art Week at NADA Art Fair, The Faena Forum and the Juxtapoz Clubhouse. She has a permanent installation at Facebook’s Miami offices, as part of their Artist in Residency Program. She is represented by Primary Projects in Miami, where her latest solo show, “Any Major Dude Will Tell You,” opened in October 2020. Breez holds a BFA from New World School of the Arts.

Autumn Casey draws on the ambiguity of personal memory and pop-cultural ephemera, to challenge and question her subjectivity against the world at large. Her practice, which moves from sculpture to collage, as well as video and performance, considers the history of the found object and assemblage – redeploying existing materials or moments in unexpected, idiosyncratic ways. (Virtual) Miami Champagne Week Day 3: Meunier Webinar with Matt Citriglia MS

Meunier – A Princess Disguised as a Peasant
The grapes of Champagne are well-known, but two grapes, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, have always been accepted as superior to Meunier. Meunier has historically been disparaged, but it appears that Meunier was simply a princess dressed as peasant waiting for her turn to reign. Where would Champagne be today if it were not for the fruit, fragrance and prettiness that Meunier gives to so many non-vintage blends? At this tasting, we will explore the supporting role that Meunier provides to the Champagne region, as well as its potential to rule on its own.

Matthew Citriglia, Master Sommelier, Director of Education for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits Florida, will present this Webinar.

We will taste the following champagnes:
Role in a Blend

Champagne Aubry Brut Premier Cru – Jouy-les Reims
Champagne Rene Geoffroy “Expression” Brut Premier Cru – Ay
Expressed as a Varietal

Champagne Francis Orban Extra Brut – Leuvrigny
Champagne Egly Oriet “Les Vignes de Vrigney” Brut Premier Cru – Vrigny

Miami Champagne Week Day 1: Natural Champagne Webinar

The Natural Approach to Champagne: Challenges and Victories
The term ‘Natural Wine’ is a broad one and can be used to indicate a wine made with organic, biodynamic or sustainable techniques. Champagne, with its long history and global reputation as a premium wine producing region, arguably has a responsibility to pursue these environmentally-friendly approaches. In fact this idea has taken on increased importance in recent years, with many growers and producers looking to minimize their environmental impacts by controlling the use of unnatural substances, preserving the vineyard ecosystems and terroirs, and taking accountability of water and waste management. In this webinar we will look at the history of natural winemaking in Champagne, the challenges of applying sustainable and organic practices there, and how the efforts being made can impact the region in the future.

Nicole Ramos, WSET Level 3, FWS, SWS will present the Webinar.

We will taste the following champagnes:
-Larmandier-Bernier Longitude 1er Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs, biodynamic
-J. Lassalle 1er Cru Cuvée Preference, sustainable
