In honor of Women’s History Month, the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center presented the Amadlozi Gallery Exhibition:

Divinity Revealed Amadlozi Gallery Exhibition, March 5th – 30th 2015: Curated by Mikhaile Solomon,

Divinity Revealed will premier works by national artists, LaToya Hobbs, Sheena Rose, Martin Nyarko, and Amber Robles -Gordon. This exhibition explores femininity from the artist’s perspective within the context of their community and the world. The gallery’s opening reception is March 5th at 6pm with curatorial presentations at 6:30pm at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, 6161 NW 22nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33142. It is free to attend, rsvp required.
The Divinity Revealed exhibition is part of “Sankofa: Looking Back, Going Forward,” a year-long series of events and performances that bring alumni back to the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center to inspire the next generation of talent, in celebration of the Center’s fortieth anniversary with funding support from The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge.

Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre, together with presenting sponsor, The Children’s Trust, announces the fifth annual launch of Young Talent Big Dreams, the most widespread local FREE youth talent contest in Miami-Dade. Kids between the ages of 8-17 will compete for prizes ranging from performing arts scholarships to cash awards and performance opportunities, to tickets to local attractions and theatres. This year, courtesy of WSVN CH7, the Grand Prize winner will receive a free trip – airfare, hotel and free passes for two – to attend the live American Idol finale. The countywide competition will begin on Feb. 8th, with preliminary auditions that will take place through April 12th at four local theatres. The competition will feature a total of six individual categories including; pop/rock/rap vocals, musical theatre/jazz standards/classical vocals, dance, musical instrument, original spoken word and original vocal and/or instrumental composition, and categories of six or less members including; dance, musical instrumental and band/vocal group. Participation is free of charge and limited to residents of Miami-Dade County.

The countywide competition concludes with semifinals on April 25th and 26th and finals on May 2nd at the Miracle Theatre. Seven preliminary auditions will take place in diverse locations throughout Miami-Dade, including the Miracle Theatre, John A. Ferguson Senior High School, South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center and the Joseph Caleb Center. Participants may compete in one individual and one group category only, and those who pre-register will be given priority audition times. Performers may pre-register online and will be seen before non-registered performers.
