Calling all animal lovers! The First Annual Doggy Fest will be making its way to Bayfront Park offering a fun-filled day for pooches and dog lovers alike. On Saturday, January 10, 2015, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., families and their canine companions are invited to attend Doggy Fest where there will be a lineup of doggy fashion and talent shows, live music and entertainment, pet adoptions, contests, obstacle courses, vendor booths, food trucks, doggy treats and much more.

The event, presented by Duquesa Promotions, is the first of its kind in Miami, drawing an expected couple thousand attendees. Among guests attending are local celebrities and media personalities with their four-legged friends.

Highlights of Doggy Fest include the Owner/Dog Lookalike Contest, Cutest/Ugliest Contest, Doggy Fashion Show, Obstacle/Agility Course, live music and entertainment by Ricky Valido, No restrictions and Yeshiva.

Sponsors include 1-800-PetMeds, car2go, Laser Eye Center of Miami, Doggie Bag Café, Baru Urbano, D.O.G. Miami, Pet Limo, Pet Heaven,, The Canine Line and many more.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is excited to announce that together with local partners, we are bringing Ciclovia to Calle Ocho on Sunday, December 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. SW 8 Street from SW 9 Ct to SW 22 Avenue will be open to the community to enjoy as a park. We invite you to come walk, ride your bicycle, dance and explore all the sounds, flavors and culture of this historic Miami place.

Free Yoga by Domino Park at 10:30 a.m. (Please bring mat)

Cars will be temporarily re-routed along SW 7 Street as Calle Ocho becomes a park.

Please come & join the Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation MCABSL for our 6th Annual Pit Bull BBQ. Celebrate these beautiful dogs with their responsible owners. We’ll have food, activites, great raffles & beautiful Pit Bulls. If you bring your dog please have them leashed at all times
(no retractable leashes allowed), no female dogs in heat, your dog must be up to date on vaccines & good tempered with other dogs, people & kids. Bring lots of water for your dog too. We hope to see you there at Pavillion 12.

All the money raised for the Walk for the Animals, helps the Humane Society of Greater Miami provide care for the homeless and neglected animals brought to our shelter. With your donations, we provide them with the food, shelter, medical attention, and most importantly they need us to find them a forever home.

Humane Society of Greater Miami is awarded four stars by Charity Navigator for it’s financial responsibility, accountability, transparency and faithfulness to our mission.

Internationall Renowned Artist Anastasia The Great Lends Her Talents To Picnic With The Pets
Picnic With The Pets Will Honor International Socialite And Philanthropist Cladine Smurfit

Celebrate the dog days of summer at Picnic With The Pets, a pet-friendly picnic at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden on July 5, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event offers an opportunity for the entire family to bring their canine friends for a celebration. Picnic With The Pets will transform the beautiful Miami Beach Botanical Garden into a pet-friendly picnic playground. Picnic With The Pets offers a variety of activities including leash-walking workshops with ABC certified dog trainer Rose Lesniak. Anastasia The Great, internationally renowned artist, will make a special appearance at the event and will be drawing sketches of pets for a donation to the Botanical Garden. Doggie Bag Café and G Girl Productions sponsors a Canine Fashion Show and Parade with prizes at 2 p.m. Miami Dade Animal Services and The Cat Network will be on hand to offer animal adoptions. Guests can bring a picnic lunch or purchase freshly grilled hotdogs or soy dogs for a picnic on the lawn. Krispy Kreme donuts will be sold for those with a sweet tooth.

Picnic With The Pets also offers pets and their owners an opportunity to be pampered. Beauty services will be available (by donation) from Haircuts by Anarkali, eyebrow threading by Brow Obsession, Makeup by Inglot, hairbrushes and styling by Anthony Battaglis, and skincare by Rodan & Fields. A shoppers’ bazaar will offer products for pets and their owners including jewelry by Josette Redworld and dog care products by Princess Oberle-Lopez Luxury Pet Line.

Picnic With The Pets features a variety of Children’s Events in the Art Activity Tent including Face-Painting, a booth for making their own homemade dog treats and an art table for crafting paper puppies. Slinky the Clown will entertain the children and create balloon animals.

Everyone is encouraged to bring your pets (leashed with current shots) to enjoy the activities. Dogs can show their owners love at the doggie kissing booth or cool off in the pool park. Doggies and their owners can create art at the paw-print station.

Picnic With The Pets sponsor Edward Oberle-Lopez will present socialite and philanthropist Claudine Smurfit a special Philanthropy Award during a ceremony at 1 p.m. with Ex-Vice Mayor Michael Gongora.

Internationally renowned artist Anastasia The Great will make a special appearance and present an exhibition of her artwork that will be displayed during the event.

Gift bags filled with beauty products and other treats will be given to attendees while supplies last. The event also includes a raffle offering a variety of prizes including Dog Baths from the Miami Animal Hospital.

Picnic With The Pets is a fundraiser started last year by Edward Oberle-Lopez in celebration of his dog Princess Oberle-Lopez for the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, the beautiful urban greenspace located in Miami Beach across from the Miami Beach Convention Center. The Garden was designed by South Florida landscape architect Raymond Jungles and showcases native Florida plants and trees including bromeliads, palms, cycads, and orchids. The Garden also includes a Japanese garden, native garden, bio-swale, and water gardens that include ponds, fountains, and a wetland with mangrove and pond apple trees.
