Just in case you missed the last circle, you have another chance to join Mark Richards, Karen Deilke and friends for the September 4 Coconut Grove Drum Circle, to be held from 8PM to 11PM at Florentino Plaza, 3444 Main Highway in the Grove. The circle will be held in the atrium on the Grand Avenue side of the plaza, located under the Knife restaurant. Parking is available in the lot directly in front of the atrium on Grand and Fuller or on the street. The drumming is in conjunction with the September Coconut Grove Gallery Walk. BluMoon Gallery, directly above the atrium, is featuring the work of Atena Komar. Please join us for another evening of drumming and share the joy, peace, and community of the drum circle. Bring drums and chairs if you have them; we have some extra instruments and seating. Either way, join us for an unforgettable experience in the Grove on September 4.

Celebrate Women’s Equality Day with Commissioner Deede Weithorn, with a suffragette style march down Lincoln Road, followed by a reception in the Lincoln Plaza.

“Women’s Equality Day” Campaign. It marks the 90th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote in August 1920.

Commissioner Weithorn and friends will gather at the Euclid Circle on Lincoln Road, ready to begin the march west towards the 1111 Promenade. Special guests include Mayor Matti Herrera Bower and Kimberly Mitchem-Rasmussem, from the White House Project. Participants will be decorated with a white flower, courtesy of Karla Conceptual Event Experience.

A special performance by singer/songwriter Zania Sala will take place at the 1111 Promenade. She is a native Puerto Rican who has a voice that can soothe your senses but can strike you with its versatility and playful layers. There will also be a raffle that will benefit the White House Project’s first training experience in Florida, Go Run 2010, which will be held in the Miami Beach Convention Center, Friday August 27.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Melanie Finley Ovarian Cancer Foundation
Pays Tribute to Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
With A Week of Charitable Social Events

Melanie Finley was only 27-years-old when she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. She fought the battle and is now in remission. However, her fight to help raise awareness and educate young women about the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, also known as the whispering killer, has just begun.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and the Melanie Finley Ovarian Cancer Foundation (MFOCF) is hosting an inaugural awareness week September 13 – 17th, sponsored by 123 Lumpsum, featuring a variety of social events to celebrate survivors while raising awareness and donations to fight the disease.

Complimentary martinis and makeovers in addition to a 10% discount on all beauty products with a portion of proceeds benefitting MFOCF. Event is free and open to the public.

Yoga does a body good! Celebrate National Yoga Month and Ovarian Cancer Month at Ayama Yoga in Aventura with a 90-minute Vinyasa class.
