Led by international instructor Jenny Cornero, the yoga class will pay tribute to “108,” a sacred number in Hinduism and yoga, by encouraging students to bend their bodies with 108 sun salutations, followed by deep Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation) that removes any remaining impurities to gather all the benefits of a deep unique experience. The one-hour class will be followed by refreshments and healthy appetizers, as well as drink specials.

Early bird tickets for the class are $35 per person until June 16th. What: VITAS Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care, is offering an orientation class for new volunteers in the Boynton Beach area. Volunteers receive a free and comprehensive training, where they learn hospice philosophy, caring for the terminally ill, grief and loss education, and more. A meal will be provided at the orientation.

Upon completing the orientation, volunteers are given the opportunity to choose the role in which they feel comfortable and fulfilled. Roles of the hospice volunteers include visiting patients in their homes, nursing homes or assisted living facilities to offer companionship, run errands and help in other meaningful ways.

The WOHASU 2018, that took place at the University of Miami, was a weekend filled with inspiring and educational talks about happiness. Leading experts in from various different disciplines, such as positive psychology, fashion, media, sustainability, economics, mindfulness, technology, and business, attended this year’s summit. The topics of the presentations ranged from sharing personal experiences and personal projects to talking about the science behind happiness. Of course, there were many more areas that were covered, but in some way, they all related to the main topic of happiness. This year, the WOHASU welcomed people from over 35 countries and 45 US states.

Every morning a few early birds participated in the outdoor yoga program, before attending the first talk around 9 am. Although the weekend was filled with many talks, and panels, there were also breakout sessions during which multiple experts presented in different rooms at the same time. This allowed attendees to chose presentations that they were most interested in. Attendees also had the opportunity to meet with coaches in small groups. These sessions were great for networking, but also for talking about the lessons learned and how to best implement and integrate the lessons into a daily routine.

Join us for the annual Bike 305 ride on the future Underline! This year, the 10-mile ride will begin at Dadeland North Metrorail Station and ends at the River Day Festival at Lummus Park on the Miami River Greenway. The annual River Day Festival will have dozens of offerings from food to historical tours on the banks of the river. The return bike trip is not escorted, but, you can always opt to take your bike back on the Metrorail!

Meet up at Dadeland North Metrorail station at 11AM to check in. We will depart promptly at 11:30AM and continue towards Lummus Park. Helmets, bike in good working order, a signed ride waiver and FUN are required. No headsets or earphones please.

Westfield Broward is launching their Beauty and Balance program during the entire month of March featuring month long retailer promotions to promote Beauty, Health and Wellness to the local community. A full schedule of events will take place Saturday, March 10th and Sunday, March 11th and are free and open to the public from noon to 4pm.

On Saturday, March 10th the community can enjoy Beauty and Balance themed activities including a braid bar, nail art, make-up seminar, hair demonstrations, healthy food samplings, and tips on how to pose for photos and selfies. One lucky winner will have the chance to have her makeup done by a celebrity makeup artist at the event.

The event will take place on Veterans Day 11/11/17 at 10am and will feature a special yoga flow led by Judy Weaver, co-founder of Connected Warriors and a guided mindful meditation to close out the event.

Friends of The Underline and Baptist Health South Florida are warming up for summer with a new location and time for free Saturday Yoga sessions. The yoga classes will now take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Brickell City Centre, 701 S. Miami Avenue, Miami, FL 33131, Level One North Block (enter near the Coach store). On Wednesday evening, the 24th of May, a public talk will be held at Florida International University’s Graham Center. The theme of the night will be Yoga, Health and Well-Being – A Dialog for Uniting Body, Mind and Spirit. This special program is in honor of the 125th Birthday of Paramahamsa Yogananda. The public event is being organized by the Kriya Yoga Institute and FIU’s Program in the Study of Spirituality & Department of Religious Studies.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
FIU Parking – Lot 3 is nearest the Graham Center. At this time of night you do not need an FIU Parking Permit.
Probably the easiest way to Lot 3 and the Graham Center is to enter the campus from the intersection of 107th Ave & 16th St, take your first right at the roundabout, Lot 3 is on the left and the lake is on the right.
