Come and learn how to identify your best channels and what sort of posts create the most impact.

How do you know if the platforms you use are where your potential new buyers are? How do you know if the kind of posts you make are appealing to potentially new buyers and fans? This seminar will help you save time and sell more art. As you focus your social media promotional efforts to those that really bring in new buyers and fans, you will see a greater return on your investment. Yes, we will be talking real numbers, how you can find those numbers, and how to understand them.

Photographs of Miami Reggae Festival at Peacock Park on 11/23/13

Miami Reggae Festival at Peacock Park on  Saturday, November 23, 2013.  What a wonderful event; the music was amazing along with the great crowd, food and vendors what a great event.

The Reason:  “As Rockers Movement move forward, we begin a new element to feeding the world vision as needs of the poor increase at home and abroad. Countries and cultures amass daily more stress, starvation, inhumane conditions, whilst at home wasted resources and manpower needed to address worldwide starvation depend on votes and self-gratification. It’s not merely hunger, it’s starvation and the world feels it. Because of you, our audience, Rockers Movement give hope to those in desperate need. You do something bold each time, you join us in support to end extreme hunger and poverty. As Nelson Mandela said it’s not natural it is man made and we can end it. We can overcome it by acts of human kindness. Your ongoing support extends a hand of fellowship and encouragement to those whose lives are touched by your donations and consideration. As our effort to represent you, the Rockers Movement audience continue worldwide, we do our part in Miami with our call to action on November 23rd with the Miami Reggae Festival. Our sincere thanks to those who have so thoughtfully provided your ongoing gift of support and understanding your aid in leaving a legacy of love to last for generations. On behalf of all who have helped, thank you. We look forward to a continued partnership as we seek to bring benefactors and recipients to a closer union. From the bottom of Rockers Movement hearts…THANK YOU so much. One Love, One Heart, One Aim, One Destiny. Keep on Rocking!”

Vizcaya Halloween Sundowner at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

The Vizcayans hosted their 27th annual Halloween Sundowner, the premier Halloween Party in Miami and highly anticipated annual fundraiser benefiting Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Guests enjoyed complimentary liquor, wine and beer, canapés, dancing under the stars to a live band and a DJ, costumes watching and the thrill of Vizcaya after dark. In an unparalleled fashion, the property is entirely transformed into a veritable haunted house including Vizcaya’s enormous outdoor veranda overlooking Biscayne Bay where the naughty and nice inevitably mingle while enjoying tasty libations until late into the night.

A special thanks goes out to the sponsors that include Brickell/Key Biscayne Magazine, Absolut, Malibu Rum, Chivas Regal, Dos Equis XX, Thierry’s Catering and Car2Go. Guests arriving in a Car2Go were able to park in a Free Preferred Parking Zone, the closest parking spots to the party.

The Vizcayans mission is to assist the Museum and Miami-Dade County in addressing the complex and costly needs of Vizcaya through its advocacy. The Vizcayans plays an important role in preserving Vizcaya and making the Museum accessible to all. For more than fifty years, The Vizcayans have raised funds for Vizcaya Museum and Gardens through special events, membership and donor programs, bequests, and the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Endowment Fund.

A Palatable Passage to India at the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove

Scrumptious Indian Fare Popping Up for a Month at The Ritz Coconut Grove

While Miami has cranked out some sterling places to eat the past few years, we have heard complaints that one must travel to the foreign land of Broward County to get legit Indian food. Well, we are happy to to report that for the next month you can save yourself the trip and head to  The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami for Executive Chef Ramesh Kaduru’s A Passage to India at the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove.  The profoundly warm and charismatic Chef Ramesh delighted our senses and palates with his complex dishes literally bursting with assorted flavors. Our favorite dishes were the Malai Kofta Curry, potato and cheese dumplings bathed in cashew fondue; the Mughali Chicken, savory Tandoori chicken in a butter masala; the naan, and these addictive dessert dumplings called Gulab Jamun dipped in rose scented syrup. We are drooling as we type and reminisce.

The ambiance and decor are beautiful with paisley, brightly colored fabrics adorning the venue, complete with live Indian musicians and a dancer. The pop-up restaurant will serve delicious Indian cuisine from Oct. 3 through Nov. 3, from 6  to 10 p.m, it is only open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays. We strongly recommend you go and enjoy these delightful dishes before they are gone.

Joseph C. Grant Jr. presents his artwork with live jazz performance at Artway 66 by Betty Alvarez

On June 7, Joseph C. Grant Jr. presented a collection of his artwork at Artway 66 in Coconut Grove. Grant’s artwork embodies nostalgia with a figurative style of elongated human forms and vibrant colors. One of my favorite pieces was entitled Tango in Miami where the artwork showed that this city is one fun city to live in. His renderings depict life through the eyes of the black male in America by way of the Caribbean.

To accompany this spectacular artwork celebration, New York based Jazz quartet, Innovative Sounds, who played at the Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC provided the musical atmosphere for the evening.

The cocktail hour was sponsored in part by TOMA Vodka and featured Joseph’s signature drink: The “Chocolate Eyez Martini”

Artway 66 is located at 2911 Grand Avenue, Ste. 400D in Coconut Grove. Please visit www.artway66.com

Coconut Grove Gallery Night by Betty Alvarez

I have always loved Coconut Grove Gallery night and it has been a while since I have been to a gallery night in this section of the city. Therefore, I ventured out to what it was going to be a worthwhile experience. My first stop was at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Galleries 1 & 2. Gallery one featured the exhibition “Master Thesis exhibition–Visual Art Graduates of 2011” in partnership with Ai Miami International University. Gallery 2 featured “Art-I-tecture” Artist Hans Petersen, presented vibrant, large scale images of aspects of architecture and environments translated into abstract paintings.

Next, I went to the Mayfair Promenade which many artists and vendors were selling various artworks from jewelry, art pieces etc. One distinct event that I have not seen in past Coconut Grove Gallery night before was when thirteen visual artists and a violinist came together to have an improvisational orchestra. This was presented by Brigitte Kishlar of the MCA Academy & Trina Collins of Out of Africa. Guests saw music played in response to the painters–paintings were created to the whimsical rhythms of the moment. Near the improvisational orchestra, I wandered into Artway 66 where its “Art is Everywhere III” exhibition took place. Afterwards, I visited AC Restrospective Gallery where large scale screenprints were on displayed. One artwork that I really liked was Erica King’s autographed photography of Basketball players of all time.

In Cocowalk, Rodezart.com Gallery displayed David Acevedo’s exhibition entitled “What Matters Most” David constantly experiments with multiple subjects and media. It really shows in his great masterpieces. We wanted to take advantage of “Gallery Walk” cocktails in three great restaurant. The Peacock Garden Cafe was the first stop and what a surprise that I had. I was served a good portion glass of Sangria saying the secret password “Gallery Night” to the bartender. Delicious! The restaurant itself reminded me of the old Coconut Grove. How it really was. This quaint restaurant had some nice pieces of furniture. It was a very delightful atmosphere.

Max in the Grove, a multi artist gallery featured artists such as Steve Kauffman, Peter Max and Salvadore Dali. Bringing fine art to the world. I ventured to Commodore Plaza where Frameworks featured local artist Marcelo Holzinger. Dharma Studio had the Russian artist Wicca Morenets who paints with a focus on the metaphysical and spiritual aspects of nature and of life’s mysteries. Cristina Chacon Studio Gallery featured the works of Claudia Calle, an eclectic artist who designs and photographs by instinct capturing moments.

For my last Gallery Night cocktails, I strolled into Lulu where they served me a glass of champagne and in Calamari, a glass of Prosecco was served for this distinct walk. All in all, it was a night of many discoveries and art galore that made me smile from ear to ear. Coconut Grove you have done it again. Can’t wait to come back for the next one!

Photographs of the Coconut Grove Art Walk on 8/7/10

Coconut Grove Art Walk on Saturday, August 7, 2010. A wonderful evening filled with great art, live music, free food and beverages, and a lot of fun. There are about 10 galleries, plus a promenade fair, an outside live music area with a full band, lots of little live acts inside and outside of the galleries, plenty of complimentary food and drink (remember to tip!) and a really nice crowd. And, of course, lots of really excellent artwork. Even though the evening was dampened a bit by the rain, we had a great time. It may not be as well known as some of the other art walks, but these folks really do it right, and it is growing every month. Highly recommended.
