The unprecedented convergence of stress factors leading up to this year’s holiday season is leaving many people feeling adrift and struggling to stay focused. To help with coping strategies, a panel of three accomplished psychology professionals from Albizu University will convene for a complimentary one-hour virtual forum.

The free webinar begins promptly at 2 p.m. EDT on Facebook Live or Zoom, and will be moderated by Emmy-winning NBC broadcast journalist and former Jackson Health System public affairs director Ed O’Dell.

The Albizu panelists will discuss ways to prevent pre-existing bad habits from spiraling out of control during the stressful holiday time, how to recognize the difference between burnout and “compassion fatigue,” and offer helpful tactics for coping with COVID-amplified seasonal stress. When to seek professional help, or help for loved ones will also be discussed. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask panelists questions.

Panelists:

  • Dr. Scott M. Hyman, Ph.D., Albizu Doctoral Clinical Psychology Program Professor, award-winning substance abuse expert

  • Yamila Lezcano, LMHC; Albizu Assistant Professor, Undergraduate Psychology & Education Program and Program Director for the Miami Mental Health Awareness Initiative

  • Dr. Isaac Tourgeman, Ph.D., M.S., Albizu ClinPharm Assistant Professor–Doctoral Program Psychology; noted neuroscience expert specializing in neurorehabilitation and speech pathology
