Project Monkey, a non-profit theatre and arts organization dedicated to supporting local artists, invites downtown Miami to a one-night-only event and the first gallery exhibition ever to be presented at the historic Scottish Rite Temple: the Miami River Art Expo. The Miami River Art Expo highlights a range of local talent, welcoming student artists and creative professionals alike, and provides a unique networking space for both emerging and established visual artists. The event is designed with the community in mind, and is free to the public, existing as a common ground between creator and spectator to further connections between the Miami community and its artists.
The Miami River Art Expo takes place at the Scottish Rite Temple, one of the most unique and historic venues in the Brickell/Miami River area. The Scottish Rite Temple is home to the Ancient and Accepted Miami Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, established in 1916. Completed in 1924, the historic Temple Theater, originally a silent movie theater that now seats over 1,000 guests, will serve as an alternative gallery space in anticipation of the Expo. The Temple’s lobby serves as the Expo’s VIP lounge, hosting the works of Elí Benitez Art, Rafa Herrera Art and Fröhlich Photography, and serving complimentary food and wine for VIP guests.
Artists of all kinds are encouraged to apply to exhibit and share their favorite original works. Artists of all media will be considered, including performance artists, poets, painters, photographers, muralists and more. Take this special chance to sell, meet and network with fellow local artists and enthusiasts.
