Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) will host the South Florida Symphony on March 5, marking the first time the Symphony has ever performed a family concert in Boca Raton.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a pre-concert music class led by award winning music educator and nationally renowned flutist, Donna Wissinger. A performance of “Peter and the Wolf,” conducted by Maestra Sebrina María Alfonso and narrated by Donna Wissinger will begin at 2 p.m. An ice cream social and meet and greet with the musicians will immediately follow the concert. The performance will be held in the Cohen/Friedkin Sanctuary at Congregation B’nai Israel, 2200 Yamato Road, Boca Raton.

“Peter and the Wolf” tells the story of a young boy living with his grandfather in a forest clearing, and the adventure he and his animal friends have with a wolf that comes in from the meadow. Individual instruments represent the different characters in the story. This includes the flute (the bird), oboe (the duck), clarinet (the cat), bassoon, (Grandpa), the Wolf (horns), Peter (strings), and the hunters (timpani or kettle drums).

The event is open to the public. Tickets are available online at cbiboca.org and are $36 for a family of four (4) for members and $10 for each additional person; or $18 for individual tickets. Non-members are $50 for a family of four (4); $12 for each additional person; or $25 for individual tickets.
