The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) North Miami presents Oriente as part of the monthly Jazz at MOCA series. Formed by Cuban-born guitarist and composer Eddy Balzola, Oriente is known for their signature sound featuring funky, guitar driven tumbaos, blazing harmonic brass, and explosive Afro-Latin percussion fusing Cuban roots with Blues, Jazz, Caribbean and Brazilian influences. They debuted at New Orleans world famous Snug Harbor Jazz Club attracting local musicians and guests to their new Cuban roots fusion.

The band features Balzola, Stuart King, William Paredes, Yoel Del Sol, Pepe Aparicio and Orlando Machado. Oriente’s band members, all full-time artists, have played, recorded and toured with a wide variety of stylists and legends including Mongo Santamaria, Celia Cruz, Jaco Pastorious and Willy Nelson. The public is invited to sit under the stars and enjoy the Cuban root fusion from Oriente.

The museum galleries will be open by donation from 7 – 10 p.m.
