Viophilia presents: Beautiful Death | Christopher Maslow Solo Exhibition

Viophilia resident artist Christopher Maslow debuts his latest project “Beautiful Death”, a series of paintings and installations that explore flowers as symbols of mortality both in their own short lifespan and in their ceremonial presence throughout a person’s lifetime. These new works examine the parallels and intersections of fragility, superficiality, and transiency shared by flowers and human beings. Maslow unfurls a more personal and subtly alarming significance with each blossom, one that is routinely overlooked in our daily encounters with these lifeforms. In a poignant display of similarities and coincidences, and with a touch of nostalgia, Maslow draws the viewer’s attention inward to recharge the appreciation for being alive.
Show preview is November 8th, 2014, 8:00pm till midnight.
Official show is November 15th, 2014, 8:00pm till midnight.

ABOUT CHRISTOPHER MASLOW

Maslow is a Miamibased fine artist whose creative practice centers primarily around painting and sculpture. A former Los Angeles resident, Maslow graduated in 2003 from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with a degree in product development. He quickly grew into a notable clothing designer and produced for multiple labels in Southern California. A few years into his career as a fashion designer, Maslow found himself gravitating towards street art. Subsequently, after many years of experimentation with multimedia, Maslow realized a greater calling to fine art. Since his transition onto canvas, Maslow has shown artwork in galleries across the United States and has experienced equal success in curation as well. Maslow has been a resident artist at Viophilia since November 2013, and simultaneously runs a studio gallery in his hometown of Melbourne, Florida.
