The Miami Classical Guitar Society proudly presents the third concert of its 2013-2014 Season, featuring young Russian virtuoso Rovshan Mamedkuliev, First Prize Winner of the 2012 Guitar Foundation of America International Competition!

Born in 1986 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Rovshan graduated from the prestigious Nizhny Novgorod Conservatoire where he studied with nationally renowned guitarist Aleksey Petropavlovsky, and in 2006 received a special grant from Russian President Vladimir Putin for high achievements in the arts. Since then, Rovshan has performed in major cities in France, Russia, Germany, Spain and the United States, where he performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2012. He has been a laureate of over 23 competitions, including first prizes in the 41st International Guitar Competition “Francisco Tárrega” (Spain), the 10th International Guitar Competition “Hommage à Leo Brouwer” (France), and the 1st International Guitar Competition “Heitor Villa-Lobos” (Spain). He is now touring over 50 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico as part of his GFA competition prize, and just recorded a new CD with the Naxos label.
