More than 2.9 million American soldiers have been deployed to the Middle East and Southwest Asia since 2001. Most have returned home. Others have not. Standing quietly behind almost every soldier is a mother with a story that deserves to be told.

War Mamas, is a a powerful video installation by Patricia Figueroa Sowers about a special group of mothers. They are the mothers of soldiers who serve – or have served – in our military in a time of war. The majority of these soldiers have been deployed to the Middle East and Southwest Asia. Most have returned home. Some have not. This project attempts to provide the mothers of these soldiers a public platform on which to tell their own stories, each narrative as unique as it is universal.

The project launch of “Warm Mammas” will take place on Saturday, September 21st as part of the exhibit opening “Made in the U.S.A. 2013” presented by MANO Fine Art Project Space.

Made in the U.S.A. will be open to the public on Saturday, September 21st and will be open to the public every Saturday from 2-6 pm through October 13th. A Conversation with the Patricia Figueroa Sowers is being planned for October. For more info about the exhibit please contact: 305.467.6819.
