Join Miami Light Project and PATH: Preserving, Archiving & Teaching Hip Hop, Inc. for the PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy 2013 Closing Cypher. The event will feature performances and presentations developed by participants after weeks of Hip Hop inspired workshops. The audience will taste and judge smoothies and juices created by PATH youth as a tribute to Hip Hop pioneers (example: “The Beetsie Boys,” a beet based juice). This team project is part of the PATH to Service Challenge.

The PATH Hip Hop Summer Academy is a unique hip hop summer enrichment program for youth ages 13-19. The schedule includes:
• Hip Hop element workshops with artists DJ Bounce of Scratch Academy (DJ), Mecca aka Grimo (MC), NewCre (Bboy) and Krave (Urban Art)
• Creative and technical workshops with art professionals
• Life skills and professional development workshops with Attorney Marlon Hill (Delancy Hill), The Posse Foundation, Victor Antonio, Crazy Hood Productions and more
• Service learning team challenges that integrate the Hip Hop elements
• Real world experience with product development
• Lessons in Hip Hop history and philosophy
