Edge Zones presents the second annual Miami Performance International Festival from June 1– 30, 2013. M/P ‘13 is an exciting four-week program of performance art accompanied by video screenings, talks and workshops that culminate in an intense 4-day event. The festival is a tremendous opportunity for the public to come face-to-face with the breadth and depth of performance art and offers visceral and challenging performance works by renowned, mid-career and emerging artists from 19 countries, as well as more than 40 national and local artists. This annual event provides a look at the creative process across a range of media, and presents cross-disciplinary, collaborative work that speaks to the high level of innovation, critical thinking, and social engagement in Miami. Events are free but availability is limited.

In celebration of Miami-Dade’s diverse art scene, works will be showcased by over 35 international artists across the city in a range of sites, including: the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens and at Edge Zones Projects at the Miami Design District.

Miami Performance International Festival ‘13 is a much-needed networking platform for the art community and brings together the most important curators, artists and arts organizations from Latin America, the Caribbean and around the world.

Curated by Charo Oquet, Miami; Eliu Almonte, Dominican Republic; Pancho Lopez, Mexico, Miami will be immersed in the participation of 70 international and local artists. Unlike theater and dance, all MP ‘13 performances have no designated areas nor are they presented on a stage, but rather on the floor, dissolving the boundary between the artists and viewers.

Artists from the UK, Austria, USA, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Portugal, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Cuba, Panama, Canada, Colombia, France, Chile, Poland and Brazil.  This dialogue will continue throughout the year on Internet platforms through the Edge Zones and Miami Performance International Festival web portal (http://www.edgezones.org) and online blogs.
