Shaping Sound, the new, contemporary dance company forged by Emmy-nominated choreographer and “So You Think You Can Dance” superstar, Travis Wall, is bringing its first live national dance tour to Miami this summer with a two-day performance at the Colony Theater in South Beach, Wednesday, June 12th and Thursday, June 13th at 8PM. Travis will be joined by fellow dance industry visionaries, Nick Lazzarini (SYTYCD Season 1 Winner), Teddy Forance, and Kyle Robinson, as they lead a dynamic troupe of contemporary dancers through an explosive performance of movement, speed, physical strength, and pure passion. This is the first time a company has been created by and for contestants from the reality dance competition show.

This is the first time a company has been created by and for contestants from the reality dance competition show. The company includes LA’s finest dancers, who have also been featured on SYTYCD and “Dancing With The Stars” and performed with Adele, Florence & The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, Usher, Eminem, Drake, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Julianne Hough, Macy’s Stars of Dance, the Academy Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and more.

Today, every  major  TV network has a dance reality television show with a unique angle: from contestants competing weekly in front of a live audience, to behind-the-scenes looks at the lives of commercial dancers trying to make the cut, to “celebrities” paired with professionals fox-trotting their way across the stage.

The trend caught on after Fox premiered So You Think You Can Dance in July 2005 and the show reached huge viewership. Travis Wall is responsible for making dance an exciting and accessible art for both dance and non-dance audiences. For that reason, he founded Shaping Sound with his three best friends to create opportunities for contemporary dancers. The creation of Shaping Sound was chronicled on Oxygen’s hit show “All The Right Moves”.
