The Arc of South Florida held their Summer Spree Auction which is the hottest travel and leisure auction in town, sponsored by American Airlines on Friday May 10th, 2013 at the Marriott Miami Airport.

Auctioneer Michael Guyer, was in charge of the live auction. There were also hundreds of silent auction items.

The auction featured a wealth of vacation packages and short getaways, great restaurants, passes for cultural and sporting activities and events, wonderful goods and pampering services.

There was a spectacular trip to Argentina with stays at Lois Suites in Buenos Aires and at Iguassu Falls and Design Suites in Bariloche, there were trips to the colorful Caribbean hosted by Point Grace Resort & Spa in the lush Turks and Caicos island, all including round-trip air on American Airlines. Ten nights around California, also with air on American Airlines, featuring stays at the Marriott San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, Marriott Anaheim, Marriott Santa Ynez Valley, San Francisco Marriott Marquis and Courtyard by Marriott Vallejo Napa Valley. Other land-only offers included “A Week in La Belle France with stays at several Marriott hotels,” “Savor the Flavor of Brazil” with stays at the JW Marriott Rio and the Renaissance Sao Paulo, a Portugal one-Week Escape at the Four Seasons Fairways in Algarve,” and an African Safari among others. Shorter stay trips included the Marriott Athens Ledra, Marriott Copenhagen, The Stones Hotel Legion Bali and many more international and national trips.

Closer to home there were a large number of restaurants offering gourmet dinners, cultural affairs and concerts and much more.

Every dollar raised at the event (tickets sales, auction proceeds) will go directly to The Arc of South Florida’s programs for Adults and Children with Intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Arc of South Florida is a local chapter of The Arc, one of the largest volunteer organizations in the U.S. Founded in 1953 by a group of concerned parents, The Arc of South Florida serves the over 60,000 Miami-Dade County citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc of South Florida’s two-fold purpose is to ensure the rights of all persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities through ongoing advocacy, and to provide specialized programs and services to help individuals lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
