A culmination of the Bass Museum of Art’s ongoing initiative to work more closely with the Miami-Dade pubic school system. Creativity in the Classroom:IDEA@thebass is a samplings of works produced by the students of the Miami-Dade Public School system demonstrates the results from a series of professional development workshops that introduced the “Design Thinking” method of project-based learning to more than 100 local teachers. Workshop instructor Lourdes Fuller and Bass Museum of Art’s Director of Education, Dr. Adrienne von Lates inspired teachers to customize what they had learned at the Bass Museum of Art to fit within their lesson plans. This exhibition demonstrates the product of this method creating unique cross-curricular lessons plans and encouraging students from Kindergarten to high school to create original works of art including: narratives, original cartoons, paintings, sculpture and drawings. In conjunction with IDEA@thebass, Creativity In The Classroom is graciously funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
