The Leonard Turkel Nonprofit Network will kick off its monthly series of workshops aimed at helping South Florida nonprofits pursue their missions at the University of Miami on January 24, 2013.

The kickoff event will be keynoted by George Knox, an attorney and law professor who has played a pivotal role in South Florida public policy and urban development. Daniella Levine, CEO of Catalyst Miami will be among the other speakers. Scot Evans, a UM faculty member who teaches in the Community and Social Change program, will highlight tools and resources for organizational self-assessment.

The initiative brings together leaders in community well-being, philanthropy, and nonprofi t administration for a monthly series of workshops to be held at UM during the spring and fall of 2013.

Named in honor of passionate community champion Leonard Turkel, who died in 2011, the project was spearheaded by the University of Miami’s School of Education and Human Development, the Miami Foundation, and the Turkel Resource Foundation. The School of Business Administration and Catalyst Miami serve as collaborating partners.

Join keynote speaker George Knox, Isaac Prilleltensky, dean of the University of Miami School of Education and Human Development; Gene Anderson, dean of the University’s School of Business Administration; Bruce Turkel, CEO/ECD, Turkel Brands; Charisse Grant, senior vice president for programs at the Miami Foundation; Daniella Levine, president/CEO of Catalyst Miami; Abbey Chase, president/CEO of Chase Marketing Group; and Scot Evans, a School of Education and Human Development faculty member who teaches in the Community and Social Change program.
