MIAMI, FL – Pipeline Brickell, the newly-opened high-design shared office space in the heart of Brickell, will host Dr. Ferdie Pacheco. He will speak about Miami’s evolution as a cultural and arts destination and how the Cuban community has played a key role in the city’s flourishing. Of Cuban roots, the Miami-based artist has not only been recognized for his famous paintings of world leaders – more than a dozen are currently exhibited at Pipeline – but served as Muhammad Ali’s former physician and corner man and also enjoyed a long career as a legendary boxing announcer.

His contributions to Miami’s community include opening a clinic for impoverished families in Overtown in the 1960s, serving as Ali’s corner man during 12 world boxing championships, and winning two Emmy Awards for his career as a television boxing analyst. A documentary of his life, The World of the Fight Doctor, was also screened at Miami International Film Festival in 2004. He is also the author and co-author of 14 books.

WHEN: Thursday, January 17, 2013 @ 6-8p.m.
