Orchestra Miami presents the timeless holiday classic “Amahl and the Night Visitors”

Orchestra Miami invites you to get into the holiday spirit, as we present three performances of the timeless holiday classic Amahl and the Night Visitors (Amahl y los reyes magos) by Gian Carlo Menotti. This beautiful opera combines gorgeous vocal lines and lush symphonic accompaniment with a simple, touching story which reminds us about the true meaning of Christmas. The story focuses on a young crippled boy, Amahl, and his mother, who welcome some very unexpected visitors into their home- the Three Kings- who are on their way to bring gifts to the Child. Perfect for the whole family, the performance lasts approximately one hour.

The production stars 13 year old Alexander Segarra as Amahl, Jouvanca Jean-Baptiste and Marinel Cruz as the Mother, Justin John Moniz, Kunya Rowley and Miguel Llerena as Kaspar, Graham Fandrei and Nelson Martinez as Melchior, Kevin Short and Gibson Dorcé as Balthazar and Ardean Landhuis as the Page. The performances will be on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 8:00 PM at the Miami Shores Presbyterian Church, located at 609 NE 96 Street, Miami Shores, FL 33138, conducted by Orchestra Miami’s Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi, directed by Michael Yawney, choreographed by Octavio Campos and costume design by Angela Esposito.

Tickets for the Dec. 22nd performance are priced from $20-$30, with half-priced tickets available for children under the age of 18, available through Brown Paper Tickets or by calling 1-800-838-3006.

Performances are made possible by a grant from the City of Coral Gables and with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
