Rick Springfield, best known for the ‘80s smash “Jessie’s Girl” and a total of 17 top-40 hits, will perform his high energy show at The Pavilion at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek on Friday, January 11 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are on sale now, with general admission standing-room only.

A singer turned soap opera star turned singer, Springfield was born in Australia and moved a great deal with his military family throughout Australia and the United States. In 1968, he joined the band Zoot, which became one of the most popular groups in Australia. He later went solo in 1971 and garnered his first U.S. success the following year with a recording of “Speak to the Sky.” The song reached number 14 in the U.S.

In between album recordings, Springfield began acting on General Hospital. His popularity skyrocketed, setting the stage for the release of Working Class Dog in 1981. Powered by the classic single “Jessie’s Girl,” which eventually hit the top of the charts, and the Top Ten follow-up “I’ve Done Everything for You,” Working Class Dog was a smash success. Springfield was awarded a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal for “Jessie’s Girl.” Springfield eventually returned to his first love of music when concerts conflicted with his television career.

The follow-up album, Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet, was released in 1982, spawning the Top Ten smash “Don’t Talk to Strangers.” In 1983, he released Living in Oz, which also went platinum with the Top Ten “Affair of the Heart” and “Human Touch.”

Springfield made the leap to the big screen in 1984 with Hard to Hold, and the soundtrack spawned his Top Ten hit “Love Somebody.” He has continued to record albums from the ‘80s through the present. His latest album, released in 2012, is titled Songs for the End of the World. With more than 25 million albums sold and 17 top 40 hits, Springfield continues to perform for fans worldwide.
