ArtKids at ArtBasel Miami Beach

For the ninth consecutive year, Miami Children’s Museum is proud to present ArtKids at Art Basel Miami Beach.  From mixed media to building blocks beyond, a variety of art exploration stations will be available for budding young artists to create their own original works of art.  Art Kids welcomes children ages 4 – 12 to stay in the room for up to 3 hours at a time; children younger than 4 may also visit with a caretaker. Art Kids is supervised and staffed by Miami Children’s Museum employees, volunteers, and selected artists. Advanced registration is highly recommended, as space is limited. Holidays Around the World

Join MCM in exploring other countries’ holiday traditions. Whether it Hanukkah, Christmas or Kwanzaa, everyone celebrates the holidays differently. Enjoy a different country or part of the world every weekend. 
  
Snowflake Making! 
Every Day in December at 1:30 p.m. 
Come help us turn MCM into a winter wonderland! Every day, we will be making beautiful snowflakes to proudly display in our main hallway. We will keep them there for the whole month of December. By the end of the month, our museum will look like a blizzard hit Miami! 
  
Spread the Joy 
Saturdays and Sundays in December 
11:00-4:00 
Help us spread the joy of the holiday season to those less fortunate in our community! We will be making holiday cards all season and delivering them to the elderly, homeless, and those who just need a little more love this December.  
  
Tree Lighting Ceremony 
Wednesday, December 5th 2012 
4:30 p.m. 
Join us as we light our holiday tree for the season! We will also be making homemade ornaments to keep or leave on our tree! 
Hanukkah Story Time

Come listen to a memorable Hanukkah story during the week of Hanukkah. Afterwards, we will be painting our own dreidels!  
  
Festive Finger Puppets

Hanukkah Cooking Cart with Marilyn

The MCM Cooking Cart brings you healthy recipes you can try at home with your kids. In honor of the holiday, we will be making foods that are traditionally eaten during Hanukkah!  
  
Gingerbread House Making

Join us in making gingerbread houses to take home this holiday season. Make it a family affair and create your very own house to display at home. Houses will be distributed on a first come, first served basis when the program begins.  
  
Drumming for Wellness

Jeffrey Deen lets family follow his rhythm each month. Performing on various percussion instruments from around the world, Jeffrey captivates his audience and then invites them to join the fun by handing out a drum to each member.  
  
Silly Holiday Sweater Day!

Come to MCM wearing a silly holiday sweater and get a special prize! Our staff will be dressed in our most festive holiday garb to match you! 
  
The End of the Mayan Calendar

This is the day the Mayan calendar ends! Come learn a about the Mayan culture at MCM and make your own Mayan hieroglyph rubbing.

The MCM Cooking Cart brings you healthy recipes you can try at home with your kids. We will be making some traditional foods typically eaten during the Christmas season!  
  
Polar Express Story Time

Come listen to the timeless story of a young boy on his adventure to meet Santa! We will be reading the story every hour on the hour. After the story, we will be making our own snow and jingle bell necklaces. We will even have hot chocolate and cupcakes to enjoy! 
  
How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Come get into the holiday spirit by watching this special performance by the MCM players. We will be acting out Dr. Seuss’ beloved Christmas story. Come join Cindy Lou Who, the Grinch, and Max in this unforgettable adventure! 
  
Christmas Day

The Museum will be closed to the public on Christmas Day, but we will re-open with normal hours of operation on December 26th.  
  
Kwanzaa Story Time

Join us for an exciting Kwanzaa story time! We will be reading a special story about the holiday of Kwanzaa. Afterwards, come to our art studio to help create a handprint collage as a symbol of our unity! 
  
Fit and Fun by Panache

Come participate in a fun and interactive hip hop dance class! We will have a hip hop specialist to teach you some cool new moves!

Zumba

Join our Zumba Master Trainer for this 60 minute high energy and motivating Zumba class.  It offers unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "FUN AND EASY TO DO".
