The weekend will consist of panel discussions featuring the eminent scholar and anthropologist, M. Gerry L’Etang, who will address the historical context in which French Antillean artistic expression has evolved; Mme. Renée-Paule Yung-Hing, ardent art promoter and member of the regional council of Martinique, will address the modern artistic problematic of the region; Mme. Dominique Brebion, contemporary art critic, who has been mounting exhibits hailing from the region for many years, will present an overview of the artists in the exhibition. The Global Caribbean project is under the umbrella of the French government’s Institut Français’s "Caraibes en Creation" program which was established to promote Caribbean contemporary artistic expression.

Pieces of Jamaica will showcase artwork that reflects the traditional and avante garde expressions of Jamaican artists in celebration of the 50th anniversary of its independence. A prolific artist, Karl "Jerry" Craig has had one man exhibitions in England, the USA and Jamaica as well as exhibited in many group shows in Canada, Europe, several Latin American countries,  Japan, Hong Kong, Mexico, Republic of Dominica, Cuba and Botswana.  His work is included in many public and private collections in many countries of the world. David Muir, through photography, showcases the candid beauty of the Jamaican people and its rich and diverse landscape. He has garnered acclaim and excitement from a wide cross-section of art aficionados and general art lovers, prompting a number of exhibitions both locally and internationally. The publication of his book, "Pieces of Jamaica: The Real Rock Edition," now affords a larger audience to enjoy his work in their homes and for those who are not able to afford the actual pieces from the collection to have this heirloom quality keepsake.

A regular participant of Art Basel, the Little Haiti Cultural Center will provide a weekend of Caribbean art, culture and music that reflects both French and English speaking islands. A warm invitation is extended to the community to attend and participate.
