PRESS RELEASE:
200 guests gathered to celebrate Marilyn Monroe’s legacy at the exhibition opening and reception at Galleria Ca’d’oro Miami

Miami, FL: Marilyn Monroe- Tribute to a Female Icon group exhibition kicked-off with a successful opening and reception this past Wednesday, August 22nd at Galleria Ca’d’oro in Coral Gables. Two hundred guests mingled, with food and drinks, among some of Miami and Italy- top dignitaries, renowned artists, art enthusiasts, Marilyn fans, and collectors. Some personalities present were the Consul General of Italy, Adolfo Barattolo and his wife Federica Barattolo, celebrated pop artist Leonardo Hidalgo, curator Gloria Porcella, Italian fashion designer Renato Balestra, Italian Chamber of Commerce President, Gianluca Fontani, and celebrity DJ from Rome Corrado Rizza.

Marilyn Monroe’s electrifying and sensual energy could be felt in the atmosphere even 50 years after she graced this earth . Her soft bubbly voice singing “I Wanna Be Loved By You” could be heard playing in the background. While perusing the visual art feast put together honor of the Hollywood starlet, the guests also enjoyed a live art performance by Italian artist, Erika Calesini, whom channeled the blonde bombshell all night, wearing the iconic halter white dress, striking numerous poses above a fan blowing the dress lightly up in the air, creating the illusion you were in the movie set of the “Seven Year Itch”.

The exhibition showcases a life-size bronze sculpture of Marilyn wearing the iconic white dress by artist Seward Johnson; an unusually lanky rendition by Valentina De Martini, a naked Marilyn immersed in color by Pablo Echaurren, a pop interpretation by Ludmilla Radchenko alongside the Marilyn series produced by Andy Warhol, a decollage by Mimmo Rotella, two witty compositions by Leonardo Hidalgo, a painting with a real black diamond on the famous Marilyn beauty mark by Enrico di Nocolantonio, and a soft and sensual pink portrait of Marilyn painted by Monica Casali. The tribute to the American starlet comes to life in a 29-work exhibition by 22 international renowned artists; which includes paintings, photographs, installations, videos, and sculptures.

Marilyn Monroe | Tribute to a Female made its successful debut in June 8th, 2012 at the nineteenth-century Palazzo Wedekind in Piazza Colonna, in Rome, Italy, only a few days after what would have been Marilyn’s 86th birthday. For this symbolic reason curators Gloria Porcella and Lamberto Petrecca chose the months of June and August for the double launch of the exhibition.

The exhibition will be on view through Wednesday, October 10th, 2012 at Galleria Ca’d’oro, located at 135 San Lorenzo Avenue, Coral Gables, Florida. Gallery hours are: Monday through Friday , 11am-5pm.
