Historic campaign seeks to greatly enhance programs and services for pets and pet owners in Miami-Dade County

The Pets’ Trust will host a special campaign kick-off and fundraiser to mark an unprecedented effort to help save the lives of thousands of animals and assist our community’s pet owners. Miami-Dade Animal Services takes in more than 36,000 dogs and cats every year and kills more than 20,000 healthy pets annually. It is estimated that more than 400,000 stray cats roam the streets of Miami-Dade County. This initiative aims to perform up to 100,000 spay and neuter surgeries compared to the 15,000 performed now by the County, as well as to provide educational programs and low-cost veterinary care for residents.

Pets’ Trust Miami is a legislation initiative that will create a dedicated source of funding for proactive and preventive programs to reduce pet overpopulation with the goal of ending the annual killing of 20,000 adoptable dogs and cats at our County’s public shelter and controlling the population growth of 416,000+ stray cats living on our streets.
