Long-established as the preeminent launching pad for emerging contemporary art, SCOPE recognizes the significant cultural impact of VH1’s You Oughta Know Initiative, which exposes new musical talent worldwide. Through a series of curatorial collaborations on-air, online and on-site in Miami, SCOPE and VH1 are teaming up to celebrate and amplify the creativity of emerging visual art.

Returning to Miami with a new location on the most highly-trafficked gateway to the Midtown Arts District, SCOPE Miami’s monumental pavilion will be accompanied by The VH1 Outdoor Lounge, located at N.E. 36th St and Midtown Blvd. The premier destination to discover new talent in music, art and beyond, the VH1 Outdoor Lounge will be accessible to all SCOPE visitors for the duration of the fair, December 4 – 9, 2012.

On Thursday, December 6th, The SCOPE Miami Official Party will be presented by VH1and feature groundbreaking You Oughta Know musical talent from VH1’s impressive roster, alongside SCOPE & VH1 co-curated visual work.

Launched in 2004, VH1’s “You Oughta Know” franchise introduces promising new artists on the rise to VH1’s base of music lovers. Many “You Oughta Know” artists have gone on to win industry awards and accolades including “Best New Artist” Grammy Awards and nominations. This highly acclaimed franchise has helped break artists such as Adele, Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, The Civil Wars, Colbie Caillat, Corinne Bailey Rae, Foster The People, The Fray, Gotye, Grace Potter and The Nocturnals, James Blunt, Mumford & Sons, Sara Bareilles, Regina Spektor and many, many others.

In the same spirit, SCOPE Art Show is known for its uncanny ability to forecast new trends in visual art that are embraced globally. Long-established as the original incubator for emerging contemporary art, galleries and artists that have exhibited at SCOPE and in SCOPE’s Breeder Program, have achieved critical acclaim, internationally. Contributing to VH1’s You Oughta Know mission, SCOPE will be introducing VH1 to our participating visual artists and galleries to foster groundbreaking creative relationships that unite music and art.

Red Bull Curates
SCOPE is partnering with Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project, to give emerging artists wings as it tours the United States. The public gallery show will include a curatorial judging panel & audience choice voting. The finalists will receive an all-expense paid trip to participate in a Red Bull Curates group show at SCOPE Miami during Art Basel, where they will have the chance to exhibit and sell selections of their works. redbullusa.com/curates
