Beloved Burger, Hot Dog and Frozen Custard Stand Opens Second Miami Location

Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) is excited to bring its second Shake Shack to the Sunshine State. The new Coral Gables Shake Shack is just a burger’s throw from the University of Miami.

Born in New York City in 2004, Shake Shack opened its first Miami location in June 2010 at 1111 Lincoln Road in South Beach and quickly became a favorite among both locals and tourists, receiving a three-star review in the Miami Herald. A vibrant community gathering spot, Shake Shack is a modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its delicious burgers, flat-top dogs, frozen custard, beer, wine and more.

The new Coral Gables location is constructed with recycled and sustainable materials, wherever possible. It features tabletops sourced from reclaimed bowling alley lanes handcrafted in Brooklyn, NY, and wooden counter seating made from reclaimed river cypress. In addition, energy-efficient kitchen equipment and LED lighting are employed throughout the space.

“We were drawn to the charm of Coral Gables and its deep sense of community,” said Randy Garutti, Shake Shack CEO. “We are also thrilled to be located so close to the University of Miami. We hope this Shack will be a fun and lively experience that will be enjoyed by Gables locals and students alike.”

The Coral Gables menu includes all the Shake Shack classics, as well as a scrumptious new burger that rolled out at other locations over the past month. The SmokeShackâ„¢ is a cheeseburger topped with Niman Ranch all-natural applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper and ShackSauce.

As is the case with all Shake Shacks, the frozen custard “concrete” selections were created specifically for the Coral Gables Shack, with names that are a playful nod to the surrounding community. ‘Canes fans can rally their next ice cream craving around The “U” Malt (chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough and malt). Other Gables-specific concretes include the Coral Crisp (vanilla custard, peanut butter sauce, marshmallow sauce, Valrhona chocolate pearls and crispy crunchies), and the Cookie Cubana (vanilla custard, Cuban-style sugar cookie, salted caramel sauce and banana). In addition, the menu includes a local favorite that debuted at the South Beach Shack, the Key Lime Pie Oh My (vanilla custard blended with a slice of key lime pie from The Sugar Monkey).

As part of its community outreach efforts and mission to “Stand for Something Good,” the Coral Gables Shack is partnering with the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation – a long-standing relationship that first began with the South Beach Shake Shack. Located in close proximity to the Coral Gables Shack, 5% of sales from the Coral Crisp concrete will benefit the hospital. Plus, Shake Shack staff will visit the hospital on a monthly basis for fun-filled frozen custard socials with patients.
