Fete de la Musique is coming to Miami. The annual celebration of music in the streets, which was started in Paris in 1982 and has spread to over 450 cities all over the world, will take place on the Summer Solstice, Thursday, June 21 from 5 pm to 11 pm in Coconut Grove.

Musicians will be placed at various locations throughout Coconut Grove- on sidewalks, in courtyards, in restaurants and clubs and the public can stroll about and listen for free. The Conservatory is planning to showcase a variety of musical styles from jazz and blues, to rock, Latin, African and pop music that is reflective of musical culture in South Florida. In addition to the outdoor and restaurant live performances there will be two large concerts with the Jacob Jeffries Band and Bailes Ferrer Flamenco.

Here’s a partial list of some of the musicians coming to the street: Cache, Glenda del E, Sunshine Stompers, Liz Gibson / Coconut Grove Drum Circle, Nikolas Metaxas, Kevin Mahogany, Munera, 11 lives / Branly Fer, Max Holm, Tall Boys Soul Band, Mikijeane. IKO IKO, and The Blues Brothers are also coming. In addition amateur musicians have been invited… and just like their Parisian counterparts, there will be acapella groups, harmonica and spoon bands, yodelers and student musicians.

Grove Restaurants will be featuring live music too. Barracuda is featuring Robby Hunter, Villa Mayfair will have the Gypsy Kings, and the Grove Spot Carly George.
