The event is open to the public. Purchase Tickets Online through May 5th. Prices range from $50 for general admission to $120 for preferred seating.

Knight Arts Challenge Winner, the Peter London Global Dance Theater , Inc. (PLGDT), in residence at the Little Haiti Cultural Center Theater, under the artistic direction of world renowned dancer/choreographer and founder, Mr. Peter London, will present their second dance performance with the Spring Dance Showcase. This is the follow up to the inaugural premiere which took place on October 30, 2011.

Peter London’s dream of creating a world class contemporary dance company, developing, promoting and celebrating South Florida’s vibrant and electric multicultural heritage in the arts was given an incredible and invaluable boost by the company’s 2011 KNIGHT FOUNDATION prestigious Challenge grant award.

The Spring Dance Showcase on May 5th, will include the talents of Jamar Roberts, a former star artist with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, former student of Peter London and a native of Miami. Jamar makes his debut performance as one of PLGDT’s Artist Associates with two of his newly choreographed works; a solo danced by Mr. Roberts himself, and a company work. Mr. Roberts is a globally renowned dancer who was recognized by DANCE MAGAZINE as “One of America’s 25 to Watch in 2007.”

Peter London is currently a professor of dance at The Miami-Dade College/ New World School of the Arts, Miami, Florida. Mr. London is a native of Trinidad, where he was lauded for his early mastery of traditional and classical dance. Peter is a graduate of the Julliard School, where he was the first recipient of the Martha Hill Prize for “Outstanding Leadership and Achievement in Dance”. He is a former dancer with the Jose Limon Dance company, Summer Intensive faculty at the ALVIN AILEY School and former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, where he maintains an ongoing relationship. Most recently, Peter represented Janet Eilber, Artistic Director, Martha Graham Dance Company, as a judge at the International Modern Dance Competition, Seoul, Korea, summer 2011, and as Artistic Assistant in the direction of a Graham ballet with the Rome Opera Ballet this past February.
