Fashion Fights Heart Disease In Style

(Miami, Florida) – The American Heart Association sure knows how to put on a fight against heart disease, and during the month of February it did it in style.  Miami International Mall was home to the Go Red event which offered a unique spring fashion show with vibrant designs from Express and Francesca’s Collections among other designers.  Natalia Zea of CBS4 Miami led the event as Mistress of Ceremonies. Go Red is the American Heart Association social initiative dedicated in creating awareness of the risks and threats of heart disease among women.  The movement brings energetic and passionate women together to take action in promoting healthier and active lifestyles.  The organization also recently celebrated over four decades of success.  The 44th Annual Miami Heart & Stroke Ball took place during early March at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami.  The event brought in over $400k to fund research initiatives and other special programs. But the battle against heart disease did not, and does not, end there.  A couple of days after the Heart & Stroke Ball, over 8,000 participants joined in at the Annual Broward Heart Walk in Fort Lauderdale.  The walk brought in corporate sponsors and individuals fighting together to raise their goal of over $700k.  Proceeds from this walk will help fund medical research and educational programs for the community.  You may also want to SAVE THE DATE! Wednesday, April 4th is National Walking Day, if you want to find out more about what the American Heart Association has in store for you, visit www.heart.org. ■
