Arts in Spring 2012 Project

The goal of this project is to support the fundamental importance of art in a child’s life. School districts in Florida have been suffering from major budget cuts, and have resorted to reducing the funds for already undermined art programs. Some have argued that they need to focus on excelling reading and writing skills, despite the fact that it is evident art is fundamental to reading, writing, and mathematics. Art presents the child with a problem, and the child is free to solve the problem in a number of ways. The ways that free self expression through art can improve a child’s academic grades and overall self esteem are indisputable. Whether it is musically, kinetically, verbally, or visually, children need to express themselves and be given the freedom and encouragement to do so.

Essentially, the idea is for these classes to be free, but this can only happen after the proper funding has been provided. Until then, please help support the cause! (The first class is free!)
