The Sagamore Hotel in Miami Beach will host 80” of Art, an alumni art auction in celebration of NWSA’s’ 25th year anniversary. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the visual arts division.

Cricket Taplin, co-owner of the Sagamore, the acclaimed boutique hotel in Miami Beach, has announced that she and her husband Martin Taplin will be hosting 80” of Art, a New World School of the Arts (NWSA) alumni art auction in celebration of the school’s 25 year anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Taplin will donate 100% of the proceeds of the auction to NWSA’s visual arts department. With at least seventy-five participating artists, among which are Hernan Bas, Bert Rodriguez, and Mike Vasquez, the one-day exclusive exhibition is representative of the diverse and distinct artistic styles that define NWSA. Sponsored by the Cricket Taplin Collection, the Sagamore Hotel and Bacardi, admittance to the show is by RSVP invitation only. The starting bid for each work of art will be equal to 50% of the value of the piece.

At New World School of the Arts, visual arts students are able to explore and develop their personal artistic and aesthetic vision while being guided by a dynamic and distinguished faculty who are all practicing artists. Through disciplined training in traditional and new media, students also develop new skills and refine others while gaining invaluable understanding of the roles of art and design in society. Areas of concentration in visual arts include Drawing, Electronic Media, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture.

Celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year, New World School of the Arts was created by the Florida Legislature as a center of excellence in the performing and visual arts, is an educational partnership of Miami Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College and the University of Florida.
