Miami Lighthouse for the Blind’s Music Under the Stars: Bon Appetit Miami was a tuneful hit By Betty Alvarez

The Miami Lighthouse for the Blind hosted an elegant but tuneful evening for their fourth annual “Music Under their Stars: Bon Appetit Miami” on April 27 featuring live jazz and pop by the wonderful Miami Lighthouse musicians. All proceeds to benefit the Heiken Children’s Vision Program.

A splendid array of delights awaited invited guests sponsored by Miami local restaurants in this indoor/outdoor event. The restaurant and beverage providers include Gibraltar, Casa Juancho, Perricone’s Marketplace, Starbucks Coffee, El Carajo, Chocolate Fashion, Grazie Italian Cuisine, Seasons 52 Fresh Grill, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, Shorty’s Bar-B-Q, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Gulf Discount Liquors & Wine Merchants, Gold Coast Beverage Distributors, CA Catering at The Crepe and The Crepe Station courtesy of Dr. Barry Burak and Affiliated Healthcare Centers, Inc. Attendees also enjoyed a tour of the Miami Lighthouse facility.

During the event, a silent auction was underway giving guests the opportunity to bid on exclusive items such as autographed Miami Heat memorabilia, trips, jewelry etc. Deco Drive’s Lynn Martinez served as guest host for this event as she presented awards and thanked Miami Lighthouse for the Blind Board of Directors and staff for their support in making “Music Under the Stars: Bon Appetit Miami” a success. A specials recognition was given to a special young lady for raising $5,000 on her own to benefit Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.

The Heiken Children’s Vision Program provides free comprehensive eye examinations and glasses when prescribed to low-income public school students who fail state-mandaded school vision screenings. For more information please visit: www.miamilighthouse.org
