NAEMI is an international organization dedicated to discovering, promoting and exhibiting work by artists with mental illness..

Founded in 1988, NAEMI has done pioneering work in addressing the needs of artists with disabilities. Our organization’s greatest leadership strengths are the strengths of its relationships with the local and global communities, as well as its tenacity to push ever further the mainstream boundaries of the arts.

NAEMI’s deep concern with the lack of opportunity for artists with disabilities to have equal access to art exhibitions has led to the creation of notable exhibitions and catalog books reaching out to a wide-range of communities. As of yet, no other organization located in Miami offers this unprecedented opportunity to exhibit the unique quality of work or engage the community in discovering the value of this creative process. Our ultimate goal is to help these artists be recognized and fight the stigma that so often accompanies mental illness.
