Muralis The Closing 4/8/11

Flagler Arts Space closing reception for its ‘Muralis’ mural exhibit
Friday, April 8, 5 – 10 p.m.
172 W. Flagler St.,
across from the Miami Art Museum.

Nine artists collaborated to paint every square inch of wall space in the gallery. Chunks of the wall can be purchased by the square inch. An interactive space was painted by visitors to the gallery over the past two weeks, and visitors can keep adding to the public mural until the last minute.

Refreshments will be served. The closing reception is free.

The gallery and studios were recently opened by a cooperative of local artists working to build welcoming and interactive exhibits in downtown Miami. The artists — Annie Blazejack, David Olivera, Juan Travieso, Leonardo Castañeda, Nicole Mucher, Nicole Serize, Noah Garcia, Ray Lopez, and Reinier Gamboa — began their artmaking at Miami magnet arts high schools, and have recently returned from continuing their studies at some of the nation’s top art schools. Gallery and studio space has been donated by The Thomas Center, a real estate company commited to enlivening downtown Miami.
