Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, Inc., a national sorority unifying women of South Asian descent, and No More Tears, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping immigrant women and families escape domestic abuse, are walking together against domestic violence. The “Heel the Soul Walk”, a walk open to the public and to be completed in high heels, symbolizes the painful shoes an abused victim walks in each day of her life. A forum will also take place after the one-mile walk, with special presentations by Somy Ali, president and founder of No More Tears, and a survivor, who will share her true, painful and inspiring story. All proceeds will benefit No More Tears.

Sigma Sigma Rho embodies unity amongst women of South Asian decent, strives to serve society both on a small and large scale, and holds fast in instilling a sense of pride in the background of each individual sister. Sigma Sigma Rho is a sisterhood of women who have chosen this affiliation to achieve their desired personal development and to act for the betterment of local, regional, national and global communities through the efforts of a network of sisters nationwide. Their motto is: “Sisterhood is what we work for, Society is whom we give to, and Remembrance is what lies in our hearts”.

No More Tears is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization devoted to providing individualized assistance to victims of domestic violence in the U.S. Founded in 2007 by former Bollywood actress and model Somy Ali, No More Tears works with victims of domestic violence, while providing them with legal counsel, financial assistance and psychotherapy. No More Tears is partially funded by So-Me Designs, a socially conscious clothing line, uniquely aimed at intellectualizing fashion, while not losing its stylish edge.
